At the New Year celebration, our beneficiaries and their families were gathered to share their last experience in 2014 with happiness and smile which may give them hopes for happier new year 2015.
While approaching to the assigned date for the celebration, the New Year’s tree and the yard’s decoration started a couple of days before the eve by the hands and hopes of the staff, beneficiaries and children as well. The yard was decorated mainly with balloons, and the ornaments for the New Year tree were prepared through handcraft activity with children.
2014 could not pass away without giving beneficiaries a space for sharing their wishes and hopes for themselves, their families and even for their community center. For this purpose, a wishes tree was prepared by women handcraft activity and the tree was set up in the yard where everyone could access and could write down their new year’s whishes including children.
There were different range of activities for children in the yard by 2 santa claus characters with roles as the first character was the master of ceremony, introducing the program and performing an entertaining contest for children who gathered in the yard, and making jokes and singing with children and adults. While the other sanat claus character joint the children dancing, distributed gifts to the winners of the contest, and other gifts for more than 100 children.
Women also had a special space for themselves where they gathered in the Henna activity and shared fun time with the amazing Henna designs made by a professional trainer. More than 50 women joint this activity, while other women joint the yard party with children. The refreshment was served for women too and, at the end white and red roses were distributed to the women to express our respect and wishes for them in the new year.
Every body’s smiley faces reveal a lot about their feelings, intentions and wishes for a new year full with passion, love and peace. What highly impressed community center staff was seeing children from vulnerable families, who used to join other family members waiting for long hours at the Bakery’s to get one piece of bread for free, joining the celebration and sharing the happiest moments in their whole life in 2014.
IMPR Humanitarian Urfa Community Center is so proud to be able to alleviate sufferings and draw smiles on the faces of children and women and gave them hope for the new year even though during few hours.
